Welcome to Fresno, the largest metropolitan city in Central California’s San Joaquin Valley!

History of Fresno, California Real Estate

Transportation and agriculture were the primary causes of prosperity and growth for Fresno, California beginning in the late 1800’s.  A railroad station and an ideal Mediterranean climate for vineyards were a beacon for hard-working immigrants.  Fresno County is #1 in agricultural production in the nation, well-known for the amazing variety and quantities of produce.

Present day downtown Fresno is bordered by Highway 99, Highway 41, and Highway 180.    Plentiful and cheap land produced a history of rapid growth to the north and east of this downtown spot.   Single family homes dominate this family-oriented community in which RV access, swimming pools  and sprawling lots are commonplace.  Basements, however, are a rarity and typically only found in homes built in the early 1900’s.  The northern and eastern push of home development eventually ran into the border of the City of Clovis, which is a part of Fresno County.  In fact, some city of Fresno residents actually live within Clovis School District borders.

During the housing boom of the early 2000’s, builders began to press into previously undeveloped areas.  Areas such as the west of Highway 99  (93722, 93725) and the Sunnyside area (93727) in the southeast portion of the city are now dotted with emerging communities.  Downtown Fresno also received a boost from the housing boom with loft conversions and condo developments emerging in the midst of a revitalization effort.
